Secondly, is this expenditure really necessary?
8,000 sets of iPads, each costing say, what, at least S$600?
That makes it a minimum of a S$4.8 million expense, doesn’t it?

You talk about buying a laptop for each and every recruit…I guess I can still accept that.
But iPads?
I think that’s taking things a bit too far, isn’t it?
I mean, it obviously doesn’t hurt to have one, but I definitely do not think that it is a justifiable expense.
Wah, now I see where the money goes. They got so much budget to spare? Then should share with other agencies. 1 per platoon maybe, what would they need it for? Gaming? Especially not on the field.
Yeah, I really don’t see how the iPad would be an essential item for a soldier.
And also, yah…if I’m not mistaken, I believe the Defence budget is the biggest budget of all the ministries, right?
Yes, the biggest. I thought they should use it to update & maintain the defence system.
