Random F1 Thoughts

Someone made a comment that if Fernando Alonso or Lewis Hamilton were in a Red Bull this season, the championship would have been long sewn up by now.

I would have to agree.

The problem with Red Bull is that they have been shooting themselves in the foot time and time again.

It could be due to the fact that none of the people in the team have been in a championship-leading position before, and are thus showing their relative lack of experience when it comes down to “crunch time”, as the Americans like to call it.

Somehow a 1-2 performance in qualifying doesn’t really scare anyone, because chances are that it would most probably not end up that way by the end of the race.

Today’s race was a disaster of epic proportions.

1-2 in qualifying, but a grand haul of ZERO points at the end of the weekend.

It doesn’t get any worse than that.

I take back all my kind comments about Webber.

He seems to be showing the strain of leading a world championship and coming tantalisingly close to winning a WDC for the first time (and probably the last) in his life.

Amateur mistake, anyone?

The evil side in me made me crack a wry smile seeing that he took out the unfortunate Rosberg, even though Rosberg had made a cracker of a start.

Cos this allowed Schumacher to register one of his finest performances of the season to date.

I couldn’t help but beam uncontrollably seeing Schumacher pass BOTH Kubica and Button, though it kinda mystified me the way he started to drop back from Massa toward the end of the race.

As for Alonso, what can you say about the guy?

Like him or not, you cannot deny the fact that he is the most complete package in F1 today.

At this point in the season, I would say that he is the most deserving of this year’s championship.

No other driver even comes close in terms of being deserving of the WDC this year.
