Er, Recycle Where Ah?
Wednesday, 29 September, 2010

I was having a drink at the pantry of a fairly large organisation today, and next to me were three brightly-coloured recycle bins labelled “Plastics”, “Papers” and “Cans/Bottles”. But the problem was that I was drinking through a styrofoam cup. Er…throw where ah? Answer: Dustbin.

We’ve Been Fortunate
Monday, 27 September, 2010

In many ways we’re pretty lucky. Y’know, I’m a Singaporean, and there’s nothing I’d love to see more than our own grand prix doing well. And truth be told, I think the race has done really well all 3 years. It has provided enough thrills and spills each of the 3 years to keep the [...]

Webber, A Champion’s Drive
Monday, 27 September, 2010

On Saturday, by some extraordinary stroke of luck someone decided to give me a Bay Grandstand ticket for tonight’s race, so I gratefully accepted. At least now I can finally say that I’ve attend the Singapore Grand Prix. This is the fourth grand prix that I’ve ever attended in my life (Suzuka ’05, Sepang ’05 [...]

Review: “Unlike Some People” By Young & Wild
Saturday, 25 September, 2010

Event: Unlike Some People Venue: Drama Centre Black Box Run: 22nd Sept – 26th Sept 2010 A great background interview with the director Jonathan Lim can be found (here). … Many many years ago, when I was still struggling desperately with my piano lessons as a weak pianist (I still am a weak pianist, it’s [...]

“Misery” By Maroon 5
Friday, 24 September, 2010

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge Maroon 5 fan. They are one of my favourite bands in the world right now, together with U2 and Radiohead. I think they’re really tight, and they write fantastic songs. As a band you’re ultimately judged by the quality of your songs, and Maroon 5 has quality songs [...]

Er, Cowboys?
Wednesday, 22 September, 2010

Would now be a good time to say that the Cowboys are kinda like Liverpool in the way they always flatter to deceive? Loaded with talent, proud heritage, huge fanbase, but always underachieving. Miles Austin is by far my favourite receiver though.

The “Genius Bit”
Monday, 20 September, 2010

Sometimes I like to coin my own terminology, and when it comes to great songs, I like to use the term “genius bit”. The “genius bit” refers to the particular part of the song that turns a very good song into a great song. I’ll give you an example. In my opinion, the song “Bad [...]

Spike?
Monday, 20 September, 2010

There seems to be an inexplicable spike in visits to my blog today, for some strange I-dunno-what reason. It’s kinda making me both curious and worried. Could anyone help shed some light on this please?

Nadal, Invincible
Friday, 17 September, 2010

I guess the biggest story of the US Open has to be the incredibly terrifying form of Rafael Nadal. With a little change of grip, he has suddenly improved his serve to an astonishing 130mph+…a good 10mph more than before. In his first four matches, he did not lose a single service game. Before the [...]

Review: “Blackbird” By The Singapore Repertory Theatre
Friday, 17 September, 2010

Event: Blackbird Venue: DBS Arts Centre Run: 15th Sept – 9th Oct 2010 Whenever I hear the word “blackbird”, I think of the lovely Paul McCartney song. Anyhow, the play “Blackbird” sings a completely different tune. It is written by Scot David Harrower, and was a winner of the 2007 Lawrence Olivier Award for Best [...]
