Daily Playoff Rant: Last Hurrah For The Spurs?

Not that I’m being  biased here (ok, actually I may be), but I seriously think that the Spurs are looking like the best team in the West right now.

Look, they’ve beaten the highly-favoured Mavs three straight games in a row now.

And the No 1 seed Lakers are struggling to get past the Oklahoma City Thunder.

And the Nuggets are down 3-1 against the Jazz.

I seriously think this year could be the last hurrah for the Spurs.

They’ve been plagued by injuries for awhile.

And the way they were going in the regular season, I really thought that they were way past it.

And let’s face it, many people (including myself) had thought that the Spurs were over the hill by now…but looking at Tim Duncan in this year’s playoffs, I kinda still think that he has enough in the tank to make one last good run at the title.

Yes, I really think he actually looks a bit younger and fitter this season as compared to the last few seasons.

Manu’s playing great. Hopefully his body is still in one piece by the time they reach the Finals.

Tony Parker still makes great plays.

And the best thing is that the Spurs have players other than the Big 3 to step up when necessary.

Case in point: Richard Jefferson in Game 2, and George Hill in Game 4.

That’s what you call a championship calibre team – teammates who step it up when the stars happen to have an off night.

I really think that if the Spurs can keep this up, they’ll find themselves in the Finals this year against whoever will come out of the East.

I’m thinking it has to be either Cleveland or Orlando.

Hmmm…Spurs-Cavs or Spurs-Magic Finals…I think either way, the Spurs have a very good chance to win the title this year and make it their last grand hurrah.

But then again, I’m biased.
