I stumbled upon a video on the internet which I thought was excellent, especially for those who are considering becoming a serious writer for musical theatre.
It’s so good I had to share.
American Theatre Wing – “Composer and Lyricist”
I’m still working my way through the entire video, but what I’ve seen thus far is just so good.
It’s a discussion panel featuring luminaries such as Susan Birkenhead, John Kander, Fred Ebb and Marvin Hamlisch.
They talk about the writing process and how different writers collaborate differently, they share fascinating anecdotes, talk about the past masters of the craft, and share their views on the direction of musical theatre, etc.
If you’re serious about writing for musical theatre, you would do yourself a big favour by watching this video.
