At 12:01am (UK time) on the first day of this year, I distinctly remember standing out in the icy cold streets of Edinburgh, immersing in the revelry of the New Year celebrations, hugging whoever we bumped into on the street, while the fireworks exploded in the night sky over the not-too-distant silhouette of the Edinburgh Castle.
Yup, out in the icy sub-zero streets…in my shorts.
But it was fun, and it was one of the most memorable experiences of my life.
(Not the “standing in shorts” part…but the entire UK trip as a whole that I had with my five other friends).
One of my best trips ever.
How quickly one year has passed.
I recently remarked to one of the five friends that so many things have changed in just this one year – she’s given birth to twins, another one has gotten married, and yet another one has gotten engaged.
All in 2009.
Great stuff.
…
Things To Be Thankful For
I tend to always say this, cos maybe I’m an optimist, but this year was one of the best years of my life.
It started out with the great trip.
I’ve made some good friends this year, as well as strengthened my friendship with some existing ones.
I’ve been through many interesting experiences whereby I’ve learnt a lot.
I’ve had many great moments, such as the Songcraft Year-End Concert, which was just amazing.
I’ve written some songs which I kinda liked (not many, just a few).
I found a new goal for 2010, and that is to seriously attempt to write a musical.
The Yankees won the World Series.
Michael Schumacher is coming back to F1 for real.
A number of my good friends got married this year.
Some of them had kids this year.
Some of them got attached this year.
I read up on a lot of music stuff this year and found myself being more enriched with this knowledge.
Generally I think this year was pretty smooth, and I have to really thank God for making this year such a wonderful one.
I now wish this next year passes by quickly too!! The kids are growing too slowly!!
