Up

So I decided to buy the “Up” DVD tonight and I watched the whole thing through.

I’d heard so many good things about it.

Everyone I asked said it was excellent, and Rotten Tomatoes currently gives it a 98%(!), so it’s gotta be something.

I thought it was excellent, as advertised.

Definitely one of Pixar’s finest efforts to date, along with “Finding Nemo”.

I think the key thing is that “Up” had a human element to it, and it was highly moving.

It doesn’t matter if a 3D movie has incredible graphics…if the graphics do not serve to move the viewer, then it’s no use.

At the end of the day, the most important thing is to be able to move the viewer, and “Up” does that extremely well.

The writers for “Up” have done a fantastic job.

Words can’t even begin to describe how well-written this movie is.

I guess everyone would take a little something away from this movie after watching it.

For me, it was about learning to put aside old memories, as fond as they may be.

Sometimes in life you accumulate some really fond memories, but at some point in life you’ve got to learn to let go and just move on with the rest of your life…just like how Carl eventually learnt to let go of his house full of memories.

That’s one of the things I took away from the movie.
