Keeping Up With The Kardashians: The Wedding

I’m a bit embarrassed to say this, but the last few nights I’ve been squeezing in a bit of time to catch the wedding special of “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” on YouTube.

(Yes, trashy show I know…but it’s entertaining nonetheless.)

This is the highly-anticipated one where Khloe gets married to Lamar Odom after knowing each other for a grand total of…one month.

Thanks to the wonder of YouTube, you can actually catch the entire special episode in 9 parts (I’ve only made it up till part 4 thus far).

If there is one feeble attempt at justification I can make for watching this, it is the fact that there is a sports link to all of this – Lamar Odom, of course, plays for the Lakers (although I’ve always felt that he was one of the most overrated players I’ve ever seen).

But I digress.

The episode is highly watchable, thanks to the high level of conflict and dysfunction generated by members of the Kardashian family.

Conflict is always good for television.

The more dysfunctional the family, the greater the entertainment value.

That’s just how it works.

I think this show further confirms the fact that the male gender is definitely the more sensible, logical, selfless and respectful gender of the human race.

(*shields self from imminent bombardment*)

I mean, apart from Scott (Kourtney’s boyfriend), who can be a bit of a jerk at times…all the other guys in the family, i.e. Rob and Bruce are actually really level-headed and cool guys.

Whereas people like Kris, Kim and of course Khloe can be very rude, manipulative and self-centered at times, as demonstrated in the episode.

I like how Rob is always the voice of reason amidst the tension and selfish jealously being generated because of Khloe’s wedding.

He’s keeping it real, and that’s cool.

Vera Wang

Anyway, there was this scene in Part 3 which showed Khloe flying all the way to New York to specially meet up with the great Vera Wang herself for a wedding dress fitting.

I didn’t really care much for the dress, but this scene made me think: I think Vera Wang has one of the best jobs in the world, cos what she does is she makes the dreams of thousands of women come true.

In that she gives them the dream wedding which they’ve been fantasising about their entire lives, by making the perfect wedding dress for them to wear.

(And she makes tons of money in the process as well lah.)

What could be better than that?

I think a job is meaningful when you can see that what you’re doing actually makes people happy and makes their dreams come true.

If I really wanted to look at it that way, I guess I could say that to a certain extent, my job does that as well.

(Yes, I do have the capacity to help make a very small portion of people’s wedding dreams come true as well, which I have been doing lately…but of course not to the extent of Vera Wang.)

Looking forward to catching the remaining 5 parts! =)
