I Wore Goggles When You Are Not There…

This is really funny!

First and foremost…whatever happened to Macy Gray?

Next, the radio was playing her hit song “I Try” on my way home from work today, and I was trying to make out the last line of her chorus.

I’m referring to the part where it goes:

I try to say goodbye and I choke
Try to walk away and I stumble
Though I try to hide it, it’s clear
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (fill in the blanks)

Seriously, is it me or is she singing “I wore goggles when you are not there”?

Can someone please convince me otherwise?

I’ve come across some pretty good misheard lyrics in my time, but this one is definitely one of the better ones, haha!

p.s. I was reading the YouTube comments, and guess what? I’m not the only one. There are other commentators who heard the same thing as me. Awesome!

  1. Initially I thought the same, but after I did a search for the lyrics, it became clearer. The words are “My world crumbles when you are not near “

  2. Yup, you’re right!
