There was a point in the movie “Julie & Julia” which made me think.
It was the part which showed how both Julie and Julia separately found their calling in cooking.
I think there was one part which showed how Julie Powell was so dispirited at work, and yet she realised that the one sure thing which she could (and would) always look forward to was to go home to cook.
Same for Julia Child.
She tried her hand at hat-making and bridge-playing, but in the end the only thing which made her really light up was cooking…and she practically lived each day looking forward to being able to cook.
I guess this is what they call “passion”.
Not just an “interest”, but a “passion”.
The difference is that a “passion” is something which you find yourself totally immersed in, whereas an “interest” is just something you dabble in for fun.
I think everyone should have to be able to find their one passion (or more) in life…otherwise life would be so boring.
Have you found yours?
I think my passion is essentially writing. Whether it’s music, poetry, research, etc. The key here is writing.
How about writing trip reports? Haha! =)
Haha…trip reports aren’t that bad, usually the problem is framing what I picked up from the trip to fit into the objectives stated, unless of course if it’s in an area I’m not really “passionate” about, which of course I won’t really enjoy writing it.
Actually I look forward to writing the article, but am just too busy.
I like that line very much. Made me reflect on myself.
Music for me!
B: I guessed as much!
