Since our second S’pore grand prix is this weekend, I thought I’d dwell on this topic a bit more.
I really enjoyed (this) article on CNA today.
It’s about the winners of the “naming the turns of the S’pore circuit” contest held earlier this year.
To quote (emphasis mine):
“The 34-year-old won the big prize after he came up with the winning entry in the “It’s Your Turn” contest jointly organised by TODAY and Singapore GP earlier this year. He submitted the name Sheares for Turn 1, which is located under Benjamin Sheares Bridge, and won the judges over.“
Whoa, “Sheares”…who would’ve thought?!?
You know you’ve come up with a gem of a name when you manage to win the judges over.
Gotta love these “name the ______” contests that we like to hold here in Singapore.
Where else in the world would the winning entry for a new budget terminal be “Budget Terminal”?
