Michael Jordan – Hall Of Fame

A very emotional day as the greatest player ever to play basketball is inducted into the basketball Hall of Fame.

Apparently they had to move the induction to a larger hall than most other years simply because this was the year that Michael Jordan was going to be inducted.

What I really liked most was the fact that the very first person Jordan mentioned was Scottie Pippen, who had gone through so many battles together with him…all throughout the six championships.

That was really classy of Jordan to acknowledge his trusty lieutenant.

A lot of people forget that during those six championship seasons, Scottie Pippen was always among the top five players in the league, and his contribution to the Bulls team was immeasurable.

Truth be told, I never really rooted for the Bulls during those years, but I have no problems acknowledging the fact that MJ is the greatest player to ever play the game, and that the championship-winning Bulls teams of the 90′s were some of the greatest teams in NBA history.

P.S. Best joke of the speech (at 5:48): “There’s no “i” in “team”…but there’s “i” in “win”.”

  1. Ah, Jordan is sheer class! I never rooted for the Bulls too (being a lifelong Lakers fan after being seduced by no-look passes, fast breaks and SHOWTIME…) but Jordan is like Schumi – even if you don’t root for them, nobody can deny their greatness. And it’s to his credit that it’s not just now that he acknowledges Pippen, he’s always done so. :)

I may love Shaq most, but I think arguably Jordan is the player I most admire.

  2. The Jordan-Schumi comparison is a good one. I totally agree!

It’s amazing how driven Jordan was when he was playing basketball. His sheer will to win was unparalleled. For some strange reason, I always tended to support whoever was playing against the Bulls in the NBA finals, e.g. Portland Trail Blazers and Phoenix Suns.

But in retrospect, when I look at all the videos of MJ’s career, I realise what a great legend he was…and he carried himself really well too. A true class act.
