Could Last Year’s S’pore GP Have Been A Sham?

Just when you thought Formula 1 couldn’t stoop any lower.

Rumours have just emerged that last year’s inaugural Singapore Grand Prix’s results could have been manipulated by the fact that Nelson Piquet’s “perfect timing” crash (which inadvertently gave his Renault teammate Fernando Alonso a fortuitous victory) might not have been as inevitable as it seemed.

The fact is that of all the drivers, Alonso benefitted the most from the timing of Piquet’s crash…as evidenced by the fact that he actually won the race because of that.

You know what this could mean?

It could mean that if not for Piquet’s crash, Massa could have easily won the S’pore GP last year! (Remember, he was running so well in the race until the Piquet crash.)

And by extension, it also means that Massa could have been world champion last year!!!!!!

(But then again, honestly…if not for Piquet’s crash, our inaugural S’pore GP last year would have been a snoozefest.)
