“Momento”? Shouldn’t It Be “Memento”?

Although I’m not the one in my family who studied English Language as a major, one of my interests is to make a note of common English misconceptions.

Honestly now, how many of you think that the word to describe a keepsake or a souvenir that serves to remind should be “momento”?

I only just realised today that it should be “memento”.

Weird huh?

Merriam-Webster’s dictionary does not list a word called “momento”.

Maybe it’s because of the word “moment”, as in to “remember the moment”…that’s why we think the word should have been “momento”?

Perhaps.
