27 Dresses And “The Giver”

You tend to appreciate a movie more when you can identify with some of the circumstances which the protagonists go through.

It makes you sit back and think.

Maybe that’s one reason why I enjoyed “27 Dresses”.

In the movie, Jane (Katherine Heigl) is the sweet helpful girl who never says “no” to her friends, and is always giving her all and more to help her friends have the best wedding they’ve ever dreamed of.

She literally busts her gut for all her friends’ weddings, doing everything in her means to make their weddings absolutely perfect…not for personal gain, but out of the kindness of her own heart, because she (naively) believes that it will all be worth it one day.

But of course, Reality bites hard and soon she realises that she is unable to find that perfect “fairy tale ending” of her own that she’d always been hoping for…and it soon dawns on her that she’s always done her best to make others happy, but she can’t find true happiness of her own.

Jane is a classic “giver”. She gives much more in relationships that she takes.

Sometimes I wonder if I’m in that situation too.

  3. u sound like u just realised u’ve been shortchanged in some friendship/relationship.

I used to feel like tt i’ve been giving too much so I stopped. But it felt weird cos… It’s kinda out of my nature.
thus I reckoned some pple r just born-givers/receivers.

So if u feel happy playing the part of a giver, just be it or if u’re feeling a lil tight, can take a break or sth. Let another giver bring u some lovin’ ;)

Well…not really. But sometimes it’s hard not to wonder if it’s all gonna be worth it in the end.

I think you’re right about the part about “some people are born to be givers/receivers”. I think I’ll just continue to be myself. No point being someone I’m not.
