In The House Of The Lord
Sunday, 29 June, 2008

“I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.” - Psalm 122:1
The last two weeks have not exactly been the best for me, but it’s always an immense joy to go back to the house of the Lord every Sunday to experience the warmth of our spiritual [...]

“The Gift Of Melody”
Sunday, 29 June, 2008

From the Songcraft blog:
“I’ve often spent countless hours pondering about the concept of “melody”.
Many songwriting books will tell you that writing great melody is a gift - some have the “gift of melody” while others don’t.
My question, then, is how do you define this gift of melody? Is there really such a thing…”

Power Jam 2008 = Out
Saturday, 28 June, 2008

Thanks to those who asked. And also thanks to those who were there this afternoon.
Anyway, our band didn’t make it to the grand finals of Power Jam 2008.
I guess we gave it a good shot. The bands this year were extremely talented, and the competition was extremely fierce.
I’m just glad we gave it a good [...]

The Djok’s On You
Friday, 27 June, 2008

So Novak Djokovic crashed out of Wimbledon in emphatic fashion. (But considering it was Safin he lost to, it’s at least not that bad.)
I guess it’s not such a good idea to call out Roger Federer before Wimbledon, if you can’t walk the walk.

Power Jam 2008
Wednesday, 25 June, 2008

Last Saturday, my band took part in the Power Jam 2008 auditions at Timbre (Substation). Power Jam is an annual band competition organised by Power 98 FM, and is touted as Singapore’s ultimate band competition.
There were a total of around 70+ bands that went for the auditions. Each band was only given exactly 2 minutes [...]

Songcraft Exclusive: An Interview With Firdaus
Monday, 23 June, 2008

One of the aims of the Songcraft Songwriting Circle is to celebrate the art of songwriting, and at the same time hone our songcraft through learning from others.
Hence, it was with immense pleasure that I was able to conduct an interview with a fellow pal in our circle, Firdaus, on his thoughts and philosophy towards songwriting.
It’s [...]

Songcraft Tonight
Saturday, 21 June, 2008

Songcraft tonight went beautifully well on so many fronts.
Of course, we had the usual manageable crowd of around thirteen to fourteen. It’s funny how we have people come and go, but at the end of the day, our turnout always manages to average around thirteen or fourteen. It’s remarkable.
We had, as usual, a wonderful assortment [...]

Songcraft. Today. Excited.
Friday, 20 June, 2008

Songcraft is tonight, so if you happen to be reading this, and happen to be free on a Friday night, and happen to want to join…you’re most welcomed!
I’m excited about tonight’s Songcraft because:
i) I’ve got two guitar songs to share, which I’m quite excited about. They’re not fantastic songs, but I’m looking forward to sharing [...]

Kobe vs. Jordan
Thursday, 19 June, 2008

Ok, I guess it’s time for me to weigh in on the whole “Kobe vs. MJ” thing:
I was never a huge fan of either player (meaning I only appreciated them from a completely neutral standpoint), so I guess my judgement could be considered rather objective.
We have to remember that Jordan always had Scottie Pippen playing [...]

NBA: Final Thoughts
Thursday, 19 June, 2008

I don’t think I’ve followed an NBA season as closely as I did this season.
I followed the league since opening week, checking up on scores on daily basis and stuff. I followed the playoffs closely, almost every series in each conference.
I would have to say this has been the NBA’s most succcessful season in at [...]
