A Reminiscence

Last night I had one of those singular dreams whereby I suddenly remembered a dear classmate of mine waaay back in primary school.

I had totally forgotten about her for the longest time until my dream last night.

I spent today searching for her on Facebook, but to no avail. Facebook can only do so much sometimes.

Sometimes you wish you could have cherished the times back then even more.

They were good times, those days.

If only we knew how quickly Time displaces all of us.

I think today’s generation can’t really understand the meaning of completely losing contact with an old friend.

Looks like my fond memories will remain exactly as they are…just fond memories.

Which sometimes isn’t that bad, y’know.

I would rather keep these fond childhood memories with me (forever even), than maybe one day meet her and realise that things have changed completely, and that my whole impression of things has been shattered.

That wouldn’t be nice.

Time tends to cast a positive glow on things, such that over the course of sixteen years, you slowly start to sieve out the bad memories and retain only the good ones.

Everyone needs to hold on to some fond memories.

  1. Singapore is so small, you’ll find her one day. Maybe one day you’ll receive a big red card inviting you to her wedding ;)

Or hmm, could that completely “shatter” you? ;p

  2. Yup I agree about the “S’pore being very small” part! You’ll never know who you might bump into the next day.

I doubt I’ll receive any wedding invite cos we’re completely out of touch with each other. Anyway, I do remember hearing news some time back that she might have been married already.

Nope, it wouldn’t completely shatter me, cos it was never “that kind” of a liking. (Although I’m sure most people reading the above post would automatically think that way.) It was never a crush. Just pure friendship.

  3. haha…by the way you talked about her, 1 might thing it was that kind of liking.
Well, anyway, I found many of my pri sch classmates on facebook…or rather they found me. Some I don’t even remember!

  4. Yeah Facebook is a wonderful thing isn’t it? I think it’s like almost 70% of our friends are on it.
