I have to record this touching incident down:
Last Friday, before our Songcraft session started, one of the recent joiners to the group came up to me discreetly and gave me a CD. It was Corrinne May’s new album “Beautiful Seed”.
Regardless of the album title (although I’ll honestly admit it was a fantastic choice!), I was extremely touched by the person’s gesture of the gift.
Extremely touched.
I didn’t ask her why I was given the gift. In these type of situations, you don’t ask. You just appreciate the gesture for what it is.
I didn’t ask why. But deep inside I kinda guessed it was a sincere gesture of appreciation and an act of gratitude for having found a group such as ours. I’m really pleased to know she’s happy with the group, although in my opinion she never really gave away that much in her outwardly gestures previously. Hence, this gift spoke volumes to me. I’m really happy when people are happy.
It might have been a simple action of dropping by a CD shop and picking up the CD…but trust me, the very act of giving touched me greatly.
And it’s what makes moments like these really special to me.
It’s moments like these which make me feel that starting the group was worth the while.
Thanks C!

It was a fantastic choice for her to choose Corrinne May’s new album “Beautiful Seed”. Honestly, there aren’t many other albums out there right now that I am as interested to listen to as much as “Beautiful Seed”.
I’m quite a minor fan of Corrinne May’s music, and I’ve been slowly going through this album in the last few days. I have not digested all the songs yet, but from what I’ve heard, I have to say she really puts in a lot of effort into her lyrics. You know that a lot of thought had gone into the writing of her lyrics. It’s hard to find lyrics of such quality nowadays. And the best thing is that Corrinne May is proud of her Christian faith and infuses Christian themes in a large portion of her works.
I honestly think her music (as a whole) is much better in quality than most of the pop music out there, one reason being the lyrical aspect is better than a lot of the less meaningful lyrics that we get in most pop songs nowadays. Nowadays, pop songs are mostly about the beat and the tune, and the lyrics are largely inconsequential.
Corrinne May plays the piano rather well too, coming up with very interesting riffs. And she’s got this really thick, deep, velvety alto voice which you don’t hear that much on radio.
Maybe I’ll do a more in-depth review of the album in the near future.
You can read (here) for writeups on all the songs in “Beautiful Seed” as well as an interview with Corrinne May on her songwriting approach. (It’s her own blog, by the way.)
you’re the man! For starting out this group. I love corrine may because she’s so personal and real.
33 is one of my fav songs in that album. Check out her second album ‘Superhero Girl’…that’s my fav out of her 3 albums.
