Can you feel the Facebook craze comin’ on?

I think I can.

Somehow when you start to get invites (either electronically or verbally) from friends from your various social circles to join Facebook, you know it’s gonna be the next big thing in social networking here in Singapore.

Anyone remember the Friendster craze sometime back in 2003?

I remember people were busy adding each other to their lists, rushing home to read their latest testimonials, checking up on other people’s profile pics and so on. It seemed like almost everyone in Singapore had a Friendster profile back then.

So is the currently-valued-at-US$10billion Facebook gonna be here to stay, or is it gonna be a fad just like Friendster was?

To be honest, I think Facebook is doing a superb job at becoming the Biggest Thing on the internet, period. Things just seem to be getting better and better on Facebook.

So what’s my take then?

I don’t know. I never had a Friendster profile nor a Facebook profile. 

(And I’m not sure if I’ll ever get myself one.)
