An Excellent Song On Royston Tan’s Blog

It’s always a great feeling when you discover a gem of a song.

As you know, there is currently a local movie by Royston Tan called “881″ being screened at cinemas.

So yesterday whilst surfing, I kinda stumbled upon Royston Tan’s blog (http://royston-tan.blogspot.com/). And there was this song that was being played the moment I entered the blog.

And you know what? It’s one of the best songs I’ve heard in a long time! I absolutely love it!

Apparently it’s the title track of the movie.

I just love the guitar work on the song. It’s my favourite kind of guitar rhythm. I know there’s no such thing as a “perfect” song, but this song is as good as it gets. It’s exactly the type of song I wish I could write.

Full thumbs up to the songwriter of this song!!!

I can just imagine this song working perfectly well in a movie. It would just fit in so well.

Great stuff.

Oh, there is also a “duet” version of this song:

Incidentally, I think Yeo Yann Yann (who acts in the movie “881″) is a splendid actress.

I watched her performance in the movie “Singapore Dreaming” some time back, and I thought she was fantastic…although the same couldn’t be said for the movie itself.

  1. Hey Jeremy,

I just had to leave a comment after listening to the song above. Its absolutely FABULOUS! Do you know who the singer is and where I can get a copy of it? Man…. so moving.

  2. Hi Walter,

Glad you like this song too. It’s wonderful, isn’t it?

This song is called “yi ren, yi ban” (“One Half”), and it is the title track of the “881″ OST, which is produced by Funkie Monkie Productions (http://www.fmmusic.com.sg/). The OST should still be available in most records stores, I think.

Oh, and the singer’s name is Wu Jiahui.
