The Infamous “Jimmy Ye” Post

I was looking at my wordpress blog stats today and noticed that I’d been receiving quite a number of hits from “starblog.stomp.com.sg…” as follows:

Huh??? I wondered.

Someone from STOMP’s starblog site must have been linking to one of my posts.

So I began to investigate.

And after a bit of investigation, I found out the answer:

Joe Augustin, one of the starbloggers on STOMP, was writing about National Day songs and talked about Jimmy Ye’s “There’s No Place I’d Rather Be” sounding a little bit like Dick Lee’s “Home”, and he linked to my post on the same topic!

Joe’s blog post can be read (here).

I’d like to direct you to the specific line in question:

Eh…Joe ah, thanks very much for the mention in your blog entry…but my name is actually “JEREMY” Yew not “JIMMY” Yew. (Gosh, “Jimmy Yew” is just one letter away from “Jimmy Ye”!)

But it’s all good fun.

Anyway, since I unsuspectingly wrote my “Jimmy Ye’s NDP Song” post on 24th July till today, I’ve been receiving numerous hits every day from users who stumble upon my blog after searching for terms such as “NDP songs”, “national day songs”, and “Jimmy Ye”.

I really never expected any of this.

Here’s a peek at what the counter reads thus far:
