I will be taking a 2 week break from everything to attend a holiday camp with some old friends. (We do it around once a year.)
Hence, I won’t be updating my blog in the meantime.
Looking forward to the camp!

Hairspray
Thursday, 23 August, 2007
I thought “Hairspray” the movie was alright.
I would give it a 3 out of 5.
It didn’t exactly set the theatre alight, but the music was pretty good. (But Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 93% rating, so what do I know?)
Hairspray is a Tony award-winning Broadway musical based on a 1988 movie by the same name. This [...]
What Is “Singapore Music”?
Monday, 20 August, 2007
Have you ever asked yourself: What is “Singapore music”?
I guess the easy way out would be to say “Singapore music” equals “all the NDP songs”. However, I think our discussion here warrants slightly deeper thought than that. (This is a serious blog ok! Got substance one…)
Or you might also say, “Oh, sure…anything written by a Singapore composer [...]

Friday, 17 August, 2007
It’s always a great feeling when you discover a gem of a song.

(Article: Straits Times tops advertisers’ choice survey)
Let me just quote you the gist of the story.
“THE Straits Times (ST) has emerged as the most popular newspaper in Singapore in the eyes of advertisers and their clients in a [...]

An Original Duet (Full Recording)
Friday, 10 August, 2007
As mentioned in my post yesterday, I recently collaborated with Betty to write a song called “But Not Before We Say Goodnight”. The background story on how this song was written can be found (here) and (here).
It’s like a love duet kind of song.
Well anyway, we recently managed to do a proper recording of this [...]
“But Not Before We Say Goodnight” (An Original Song)
Thursday, 9 August, 2007
There was this particular song which I presented together with my fellow lyricist-collaborator Betty at the recent Songcraft songwriting session which I’m slightly pleased with.
I came up with the melody to the song, and Betty came up with the lyrics.
Basically it all started with the line “You can tell me stories about [...]

Check out this new National Day song by Firdaus and his friend, written for Singapore’s 42nd birthday. (Really interesting title, I must say!)
