I chanced upon this YouTube video. Apparently it’s one of the most viewed YouTube clips recently.
If I’m not wrong, this clip is from one of the MTV “Sweet 16″ episodes.
Now, I’ve watched my fair share of “Sweet 16″, because the way many of the princesses behave on the show is simply astounding.
However, I think of all the espisodes I’ve seen, this one takes the cake.
Let’s break it down for a second: This 15 year old girl is going to have a huge bash. A few days before the event, her mum presents her with a brand new Lexus SC430 (whoa!) in front of all her friends. All her friends think it’s fantastic.
But the moment this girl sees it, she flies into a rage and screams at her mum, “WHAT THE ****, I DON’T WANT MY CAR NOW!!!” Then she runs away and cries and says her mum is “stupid” and “idiotic” for presenting the Lexus SC430 at such a bad time. (She wanted it presented only at the party.)
She’s in tears. Her life is ruined. There is no longer a reason for her to live. Greater tragedy has never befallen any other human being since the day all firstborn were struck down in Egypt. Nothing can console her. And to top things off, she tells her mum straight up, “THE WHOLE PARTY IS OFF, YOU RUINED MY LIFE, I HATE YOU!!!” And then she storms off into her chauffered car and zips away.
Amazing stuff huh?
…
I think this a manifestation of the height of human self-centeredness.
Sometimes people are so caught up in their own self-interests that they fly into a rage when things don’t go according to their own selfish plans. Why? Because everything in the world revolves around them, and no one else. They are the most important people in the world. Their whole life revolves around them and them alone. They only care about themselves. It’s always “them-first” in everything. Their enjoyment comes first, before anything else.
It doesn’t matter if others are doing their best to make them happy. It doesn’t matter if others have sacrificed to make their lives better. It doesn’t matter if others have spared a thought for them. All that matters is what they alone think and feel.
Do you know of self-centered people?
Or better still…are you self-centered?
I CANNOT believe there are such girls out there. Or rather, parents who Allow their child to behave That way Publicly.
When I heard her mum apologising FOR her daughter’s behaviour, I was like, “Oh nooo…”
Really hope she is only a minute percentage of the youth today. But then again, I may be wrong :/
